HOUSTON TEXANS
2008 NFL DRAFT RECAP
|
| The
Texans need a RB but couldn't let the OT
situation go unaddressed. But they
traded down and then took Virginia Tech
left tackle Duane Brown. He has played
both sides so that gives them
flexibility, but he was not exactly a
blue chipper. Went RB with Steve Slaton,
who has outside burst but might not be
big enough to bull through the middle.
Fits their one-cut scheme but size will
play into his durability. We want to not
like the picks, but who knows with
Kubiak and his success in Denver with
the zone blocking scheme and later round
running backs we will reserve judgement
too much. Overall Grade: C+ |

Brown is
a former tight end who is very athletic.
He was a tight end
just two years ago, so he has the
natural athleticism, quickness, and
lateral agility to be a quality pass
protector in the NFL. The upside is
unbelievable as he learns to play the
position, but this is a little high for
him to go.
