|
1. Manny Pacquiao - He takes on all comers and does it with
speed and power. |
|
2.
Floyd Mayweather Jr.
- Most rate him number one, but
we still punish him for a 3 year
vacation from any real
competition in 2003-2005. |
|
3.
Joe Calzaghe - Joe is 43-0, but when you look at his list of
latest foes, you have to wonder if he is that good, or just very well managed.
Fighting the "contenders" from ESPN's series is not going to impress us that
much. |
|
4.
Juan Manuel Marquez - Marquez remains one of the best technical
fighters, but that is starting to be impeded daily by the slowing of his
reflexes. |
|
5.
Bernard Hopkins - Like Marquez age is catching up to Hopkins, he
just looks old when he fights. |
|
6.
Mikkel Kessler - A win over Calzaghe puts Kessler in the crossfire
of undefeated contenders Lucien Bute (20-0, 16 KO) and Dennis Inkin (31-0, 24
KO) as well as the winner of the World Middleweight title title fight on
September 29th between champion Jermain Taylor (27-0-1, 17 KO) and
contender Kelly Pavlik (31-0, 28 KO).
|
|
7.
Israel Vasquez - It’s almost a guarantee that his next bout will
continue a saga with Rafael Marquez that has captured the hearts of anyone who
loves boxing. |
|
8.
Rafael Marquez - The ying to Vasquez’s yang these two match up
nicely and will hopefully give us a few more matches |
|
9. Ronald "Winky" Wright - We give Winky a lot of credit for
taking the tough fights so although he has four losses, they are against real
fighters. |
|
10. Marco Antonio Barrera - Dropping a little after his loss to
Pacquiao, Barrera is in danger of falling out of our top ten for the first time. |
