Falcons defeat Lions 23-16, Stafford injured

Matt Ryan ran and threw for touchdowns to give the Atlanta Falcons a double-digit, first-half lead, and they held on to beat the Detroit Lions 23-16 on Sunday.

On Detroit’s final drive, a pass-interference penalty against Atlanta was overturned because instant replay showed Falcons defensive tackle Corey Peters had tipped the ball. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford appeared to injure his right ankle on the play.
