Washington continues to chase respectability. Although leading prospects Stephen Strasburg (Tommy John surgery) and Bryce Harper (just 18 years old) are likely a season away, improvement by young players Wilson Ramos, Ian Desmond and Danny Espinosa will dictate if they’re competitive
They spent big for Jason Werth and Adam LaRoche and along with the fantastic prospects, Washington finally looks as if they have Washington on the verge of getting out of the National League East’s basement.
The Nats are going to have to wait a year though for that core of young players to catch up to the likes of the Braves and Phillies, but they could go anywhere from 3rd to 5th place this year depending on their development.
